Oil Companies Vulnerable to Cyber Attacks
Oil companies still make enough profits, that they are the target of ransomware groups, and in particular BlackCat is one of the most notorious of these, are believed to be behind a recent attack that compromised two German oil companies.
The company, upon discovering they had been the victim of a cyber-attack took action immediately. They launched an investigation into the matter to dig deep about how this had happened, while at the same time enhancing the security of the existing assets in place.
They had to admit that they were forced to declare a major incident and operate the terminals with limited capacity. Royal Dutch Shell said in a statement that it was “forced to reroute to different supply depots”
